    Saturday, October 10th
    11am – 1pm
    McCarren Park, Greenpoint, Brooklyn

Over 2,000 parents and kids came out to enjoy a McCarren Park pumpkin patch filled with over 600 pumpkins.   Kids (and adults) got to pick their own pumpkin and receive a bag filled with arts/crafts activities.   Everyone also enjoyed live music by Jon Samson of CoCreative Music and other fun things to do, courtesy of FC Select Soccer and NYC Parks Mobile Unit.   The park lawn in front of the red field house was overflowing with kids and parents, decorating their pumpkins and catching up with friends, old and new.

Assemblyman Joe Lentol and CM Diana Reyna – thank you for coming out with your families.   The event wouldn’t have happened without your assistance and support.   We also thank CM David Yassky, Nick Steffanizi of Boro Recycling for donating coloring books and crayons, Jon Samson of CoCreative Music for the great music, Marius Tapper of Green Market for helping us purchase pumpkins, and Karen of McDonalds for donating paper bags.  We thank the Boy Scouts, the Greenpoint Toy Center, the Greenpoint YMCA, the People’s Firehouse, and the rest of our volunteers who worked tirelessly.  We were stunned by the magnitude of the enthusiastic turnout this year.  Some sixth sense urged us to double the pumpkin order at the last minute – reckoning that we could always use leftover pumpkins for our other Fall programs.  Thank heavens we did!   People came from all over the city.  And all +600 pumpkins were gone by 12:30!   As you know, Pumpkin Day started at 11 am.  And there were people still waiting on line and coming through!
